Castle Creek Trailhead – Meadow

The meadow at Castle Creek Trailhead is about as stunning as any valley view could be. The view looks up the valley with Greg Mace Peak nearby on the right and Star Peak a bit further back on the left. The forest covered hills on each side of the valley are filled with aspen trees and if you can catch them changing colors in the fall, it truly is a sight to behold. The meadow is an uneven rocky field with some scratchy grasses and rocks. The trailhead is at the end of Castle Creek Road where it forks into Cooper Creek Road and Pearl Pass Road. Castle Creek Road is not serviced this far back in the winter so check with the admin authority as to when the road is likely to be open or to close. Pearl Pass Road has a fair amount of traffic and you’re probably likely to see at least one vehicle driving past, but it highly, highly unlikely anyone will come out into the meadow. There are no restrooms here or nearby (Ashcroft Ghost Town is perhaps the closest) so plan accordingly.
