Ashcroft Ghost Town – North Meadow

Ashcroft was a silver mining town that dates back to 1883 and several historic buildings remain. You can find the saloon, a post office, and the Bird House Hotel. The former boom town is a shadow of its former self. It’s nestled among spectacular alpine meadows at the headwaters of Castle Creek, and it has great views both up and down the valley. There isn’t a set ceremony space so there is a lot of flexibility on how and where you can setup a ceremony to take advantage of whatever background suits you best. The buildings make for great backdrops for couples photos and there is a stream which helps make the quiet noises you expect from a fairly remote location. It’s a short but winding drive from Aspen. During the winter, it serves as a nordic ski area and is not very hospitable for weddings. During the summer a caretaker is largely present to manage the site and act as steward. There is a small $5 admission fee (at the time of this writing), and without cell or wifi service in the valley, you’re probably going to need to bring cash or make arrangements in advance with the admin authority.
